Nova de Hoo
Is a comic artist, Illustrator and storyboard artist based in Zwolle, the Netherlands
Nova de Hoo (May 6, 2001) moved to Zwolle at age 18 to study Comic Design at ArtEZ University of the Arts and recieved her Bachelor's degree in 2023. Upon graduating she won the thesis award for an essay on the relationship between South Africa's colonial past and the position of women in the country. Her graduation project was a 34-page comic book about a South African sex worker named Ona.
Nova now spends almost every day of the week drawing after working as a delivery driver, parcel sorter and maid. Every two weeks, she draws the comic Joy for Tina Magazine. She also contributed to Gevangen in het Oranjehotel, a comic book consisting of eight short stories about events that took place in a nazi prison in Scheveningen during World War II. Nova is currently working on a graphic novel to be published by Oogachtend.
